Together, We Can Make a Difference In the Lives Of Those With Cystic Fibrosis
Storix is a proud supporter of Aptalis CF Cycle For Life, a premier cycling event, on October 29th, that will be benefiting research towards a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. (CF) Storix’s involvement with CF Cycle For Life and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation stems from our very own Director of Sales and Marketing, Manuel Altamirano. “I got involved with the San Diego Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 2-years ago to help launch its inaugural event in 2010. Since then, we have successfully doubled the number of participants and supporters,” says Manuel Altamirano. “It goes without saying, fundraising has gone through the roof!”
Manuel’s journey with Cystic Fibrosis derives from his 10-year old nephew, Daniel Villarreal. Since Daniel’s early diagnosis, he has had over 20 hospital admissions. In 2010, Daniel was admitted 4 times, spending over 43-days at Rady Children’s Hospital. Daniel is a courageous kid with dreams of going to college and becoming successful.
Cystic fibrosis is a devastating genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. More than ten million Americans are symptomless carriers of the defective CF gene. Advances continue to be made in finding a cure, but like all charities, requires supporters.
